“In 1930, Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson was aboard the Beothic, a supply ship travelling to remote Arctic communities. Passing Cornwallis Island, he saw Cape Hotham jutting up at the ocean’s edge, and was moved to sketch this landscape. Eighty five years later, I too put pencil to paper while boating past with Inuit guide Randy Nungaq. The hues were more than my graphite could handle, and so this painting was born.” - Cory
